Donte' Collins '21 Recruiting Profile

Coach,

My name is Donte’ Collins, this fall I will be a senior at Woodside High School in Newport News, Virginia. I have been wrestling for 10 years, this fall will make my 5th year on the high school team, as an 8th grader I joined the J.V. team.

I have looked at your team, watched some matches and I believe that I’d be a good fit into your program. I’m competitive, a hard worker, I’m willing to learn and I love to wrestle.

I was team captain the past two years, l anticipate that l will be selected captain again this fall 2020. 

Woodside High School has the largest size student body in our city out of the 4 high schools, yet we had the fewest wrestlers. I was able to help our team by encouraging several student-athletes on the football team to come out for the wrestling team, several of them stuck out, others said it was too hard.

In the community, l participate in the Mayor's Youth Committee and in school I'm on the Student Athletic Leadership Team. Both groups you have to be selected after interviewing. 

I hope to one day give back to this sport, I want to coach youth wrestling. I want to expose any many young people to this wonderful sport as possible.
