Matthew Mize '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Matthew Mize, and I would love nothing more than to play college baseball and to be a leader and strong competitor for my team.  I've been playing since t-ball and have grown to love the game more and more every time I hit the field.  I have played on my high school's varsity team since my freshman year.  During that year, I pulled double duty, playing for our Varsity team and starting for our JV team as a pitcher, infielder and outfielder.  I'm versatile in my playing abilities as I have played both infield and outfield positions.  

As a teammate, I try to lead our team and support my teammates.  I tend to be harder on myself than I would ever be on my team.  I try to lift them up when they are struggling and celebrate their accomplishments on and off the field.  

As a player, I give 110% to get better and perfect my play.  When I've had a bad game at the plate, I go to the batting cages and work on my technique to get better.   I also spend time in the weight room in order to get in the best physical shape.  I take the initiative to do these things on my own, and don't wait on mandatory workouts or practices.  

I also put the work into my studies.  I'm an A/B student who will begin Honors course in the fall of 2023. At a small school, I play three sports during the year; Football, basketball and baseball.  Of the three, my love is baseball, and I have worked hard to continue my education while also playing sports.  My current GPA is 3.8.

My goal is to continue my education while playing a sport that I love.
