As a little boy playing coach's pitch, I wasn't the fastest or the most talented on the team. No matter how many times I didn't get picked for the All-Star team each season, I never once let that affect me. In my mind, it just meant I needed to try harder next year. It wasn't until I was eight years old playing in a fall ball league that I had a coach who believed in my ability and saw the potential in me to be a pitcher. It was in that fall ball season that I threw my first pitch in a baseball game, a memory I will never forget and one that drives me every day. One thing I have never lacked was self-motivation. I truly believe that if I want to achieve something, I must work for it, and that is exactly what I did in eighth grade to be afforded an opportunity to play on my high school varsity baseball team. My work ethic and positive attitude are two of my most equitable qualities. I am committed to being the best that I can be both on and off the field. Having a teacher for a mother has taught me to value education, and I have been devoted to maintaining good grades throughout my educational career. Coming from a small town, I also firmly believe in the importance of community involvement and setting an example for those younger than me. One of my proudest achievements is being selected as a peer helper at my high school, supporting and guiding my peers and the elementary youth in making healthy and positive choices. As I plan for my future, I am eagerly looking forward to growing both mentally and physically throughout my college years so that I can be a valuable asset to my team as a pitcher, hitter, and infielder.
