Personal Statement
My name is Jason Chitwood. I'm 5' 11" and weigh around 200 lbs. I have played baseball since I was five years old. Since then, it has been my life. I eat, sleep, and breathe baseball. Previous coaches of mine have told me that I am one of the hardest working players they have ever coached. I am very dedicated to baseball. I was a starting sophomore on the varsity team at Fleming Island High School, in Jacksonville, FL. I played first base, third base, and pitcher. I made 1st Team All-District as a utility player. Last year, as a junior, I was the "Ace" of the pitching rotation. My fastball velocity is consistently around 85. My grades are also important, as I have around a 3.82 GPA and received a 1110 on my SAT and 31 on my ACT. The academic strength of a college will not necessarily make or break a decision for me. I would prefer a strong academic college. I wish to major in either Sports Management or Exercise Science/Pre-Phyiscal Therapy, and hope to become a Coach or Athletic Trainer after my baseball career is over. The division of the college is also not of too much importance. I would like to play for a winning team. I don't expect playing time as a freshman, but that could possibly pull me towards a specific school. I want to finish school and get my degree before moving on. Being redshirted is out of the question for me, unless it is due to injury. I would like to stay in the southeastern region, but I am not ruling any schools out based on location. Over the summer and fall, I played with CBC Storm. During the fall we played a few junior college teams, such as Santa Fe, TCC, Central Florida, and more. We also played in some of the top national tournaments in Florida, including Perfect Game and Prospect Wire.
