Personal Statement
My name is Oliver Genest and I am a 6’1’’ 185 lb catcher from Sanford, Maine. For 5 years I have played with the Southern Maine River Rats organization, developing into the player I am today. I pride myself on the ability to play every position on the field at a high level. At the catching position, I have a pop time in the 1.90s and take great pride in my ability to be a strong, defensive threat. Although my primary position is catcher, I also started games at shortstop and centerfield during my freshman year on Varsity. During my freshman year, I was in the top 3 in almost every offensive category, while starting every game and hitting primarily 3rd. This was also the case during my past two seasons with the Rats, leading my team in various offensive categories such as hits, batting average, and OPS.
My education is as important to me as my contributions as a leader on my athletic teams. This past year I received the Academic Excellence in Achievement & Learning Award at Seacoast Performance Academy. As well as the River Rats organizational Leadership Award for my actions on and off the field.
