Personal Statement
My main objective is to play baseball at the highest and most competitive level possible. I am a very hard worker and great team player, as well as a leader. I strive to work hard and play hard every day and do what's best for my team to get the win. I have a very positive attitude in school and in baseball which tends to spread an upbeat attitude throughout my teammates and peers. Coaches should be aware that I will work hard every day to make myself the best player possible.
As a freshman I played junior varsity and split the starting role at either catcher or second base and batted 6th in the order. In the 2016 season, I was the starting catcher and played every game behind the plate. My favorite, and what I believe to be my best position, is catcher. I am very experienced at this position, I have been catching since I was in 5th grade and have had personal instruction from Matt Raleigh at Raleigh Baseball Institute and from Bridgeport Bluefish Professional player, and now manager, Luis Rodriguez. Catcher is not the only spot on the field where I can play. Throughout my baseball career, I have played every position on the field. I have worked hard at being a well rounded player that can be utilized anywhere on the field. I have the speed to be able to play middle infield and all of the outfield positions. On my travel team, I continue to work on mastering each position, especially second base. On my 2017 Varsity team I am playing a number of positions for the team. I have started at second, shortstop, third and catcher , while batting third and leading the team in hits and RBIs.. I have also come in to pitch in relief for several games. We finsihed the year with a 8-12 record losing in the first round of the playoffs.
Academically, I am an excellent student. Since elementary school I have had an average of around 90. I am consistently on the honor roll and I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society. I have been in honors math since I was in 7th grade and AP science since I was in 8th grade. I have a 3.6 GPA out of 4. I would like to attend college for either Fire protection technology or paramedic.
