Receiving Player of the Year honors my sophomore season has been the highlight of my career so far.
However, my freshman year playing varsity is really what sparked my desire to work harder, get stronger
and be a leader for my team. At the beginning of that season, I was to be a second catcher, but three
games in, my teammate was injured. It fell to me to be the sole catcher and general on the field. One of
only two freshmen on the team, I quickly embraced the trust that my teammates put in me as leader.
Fast forward to my sophomore year and my senior teammates looked to me in clutch situations as the
go to. That experience helped me grow and re-focus on my long-term goals and the work needed to
achieve them. Becoming a collegiate level catcher is one of those long term goals. My love for baseball started when I was just 4
years old, playing tee-ball and I never looked back, only growing my love for the sport through playing,
coaching and hard work. Not only do I love playing, but I also help give catching lessons to little league
players and volunteer with the YMCA to coach at camps.
My maturity and baseball knowledge, along with hard work in the off season has helped me get
where I am today as a baseball player. In the classroom, the influence from my teachers has encouraged
me to push harder and take accelerated courses, college credit classes, and Advanced Placement
courses as a way to prepare myself for college. I have set goals for my high school career to graduate in
the top 10% of my class and receive distinguished honors all four years. Academically I know that I can
bring an uplift to the team and help my teammates both on and off the field. I believe that I not only
have the talent as a catcher to play at the college level, but also the work ethic, character and leadership
skills to make an immediate and lasting impact on your program.
