Parker Hayes - Ap...Personal Statement
Growing up the grandson of a high school baseball coach has been such a blessing and is how I got interested in playing baseball at a young age. My grandfather began working with me when I played t-ball so I would establish good mechanics and habits at an early age. When I learned that one of his teams won the state championship many years ago, I made it a goal of mine to win a state championship in high school and go on to play at the college level.
My travel ball team won its world series tournament in Viera, Florida the summer I was going into high school. I was the winning pitcher in the finals and the closer in the semi-finals. It was the highlight of my career so far and it fueled a passion in me to continue fine tuning my craft as a pitcher. I have gone on to earn a starting position in the rotation for my varsity high school team as a freshman. I also start as the first baseman when I am not pitching. I am the Vice President of my freshman class, serve on student council and am a very good student. I have learned to be a leader at a young age and believe I have the skill, work ethic, poise and character to pitch in college and be a leader on your team.
