My name is Eliza Gugenheim and I am a sophomore at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, NC. I was introduced to and started playing field hockey in 2015 with Charlotte Ambush. After my first season, I fell in love with the sport and since then have been involved year round. I continue to play with both Charlotte Ambush and the Carolina All Stars as I attend a boarding school in Raleigh, which allows me to play mainly in Raleigh and occasionally in Charlotte. I play both indoor and outdoor, and I have been playing at the travel level since 2017. I am constantly working to grow my skills and to become a better player. I made Saint Mary’s Varsity team as a freshman, started every game, won the Coaches award, and received the All-Conference award. Additionally, as a sophomore I played on my schools varsity team, started every game, received MVP, and the All-Conference award. I also was nominated and played in the North Carolina All-Stars game at Duke University on November 6, 2022 as one of two sophomores. Typically I play defense, but I am willing to play any position my coach puts me in. Outside of field hockey, my academics are extremely important to me. I work very hard to do the best I possibly can in both field hockey and in school. I am in honors classes as well as taking an AP, with an unweighted GPA of 4.25 out of 4.3, and a weighted GPA of 5.25 out of 5.3. I am very coachable, dedicated, and I love learning how to improve my game.
