Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Patrick Hosty. I play left offensive tackle on the Brother Rice Crusaders. I have started on the Varsity team both my Sophomore and Junior years at this position. Brother Rice is a member of the Chicago Catholic League Blue, which is arguably the toughest and most competitive football division in the state of Illinois. Very rarely in the past two years did I find a game where I was not matched up against another player, who, if not committed already, was being recruited heavily by colleges. Despite the opponent, however, I, along with the rest of my offensive line, was able to dominate the line and protect my backfield. I attribute this success not necessarily to my size, which was sometimes less than my opponent, but to my sound technique and a will to succeed. I have developed and plan to develop these skills more through a dedication to my teammates, coaches, and work at practice and during the offseason. I was named a captain my Junior and Senior season, which was, to me, a tremendous honor because I strive to be a leader to my teammates through my example. I love football and look forward to leading my teammates out onto the field every Friday night. I also look forward to continuing my football career into college. I currently have a 4.83 GPA and rank 2nd in my class, so I hope to find a college where I can succeed both in the classroom as well as on the field.
