Personal Statement
Hello my name is Jyron Walker. I am a 17 year old from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I attend The Dunham School, where I excel in football and basketball. I have started Varsity Football at Dunham since my freshman year. I have started at point guard on the Varsity Basketball team for the past two years. I currently possess a 3.99 GPA and this includes taking AP and honors classes throughout my entire high school career. I am determined to not only succeed athletically, but also academically. I will always keep that passion for maintaining excellent grades.
I am a very hard worker. What I lack in size, I make up with heart and passion for the game. I am very competitive at everything that I do, especially with sports. I do not like to lose and I give my all each and every time I step on the field. I like to lead my teammates and others by example. I am a great listener and always accept coaching and necessary criticism that can help me to be as successful as possible at the task at hand. My dad used to coach high school and summer club sports, so I know the necessary attitude and qualities to be coachable and a great team player.
In football, I enjoy making plays for my team. I currently play QB and CB for The Dunham School. I am taking over the punt return and kick return duties as well this year. I like opportunities where I can get the ball in space and make defenders miss and use my speed and quickness to get up the field and gain maximum yardage. I am not sure where I will be used in college, but I know coaches will get a tough, hard worker who is coachable and a student in both the classroom and of the game.
In free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and just having fun. I like to play video games when I have free time away from working out, playing sports, or my schoolwork. I enjoy watching movies and various TV shows. I would like to go to a university where I can receive the best education for my future after football. I have not decided on a major however.
