Personal Statement

My name is Benjamin (Ben) Trammell and I am a 6’3” 205 pound starting Defensive End and Tight End for my high school football team. I am an athletic player who is counted on to be a role model both on and off the field by demonstrating leadership skills and encouraging my teammates in the weight room, practices, and on the field during game days. I have always been involved in sports and have been a key player on football, baseball, and basketball teams over the years. Since ninth grade, I have been a starter on my high school football team and have been a key contributor on both the defensive and offensive line, as well as continued as a starter on our local American Legion baseball team as an outfielder or pitcher on the mound. Although I enjoyed baseball immensely, in November of 2015, I made the decision to replace my winter baseball workouts with a training program focused strictly on improving my football skillsets. Immediately after the 2015 football season ended, I began working with a personal trainer at Sarge Athletics with specific goals of gaining mass, intensifying weight capacity, and increasing speed; I am focused and determined to be the best I can be on the field.

I have matured a lot in the past year and have realized hard work and determination will result in positive changes not only in my life but for future generations as well; I am grateful for my parent’s sacrifices over the years as they truly came from humble beginnings. My parents helped me to acquire the skillsets to deal with ADHD and they taught me to set attainable goals and to work hard to reach those goals resulting in greatly improving my performance in the classroom. Over the past three years, I have been employed as a teen counselor to work with our youth to promote “club-like” activities that are both fun and educational; these summer positions have evolved into working a minimum of three hours after school each day. I have taken my parent’s lessons to heart and by focusing on my studies, learning responsibility in a job setting, and exhibiting discipline and hard work on the football field, my future will include achieving my personal goal of a college degree in criminal justice.
