Personal Statement
My name is Tyler Coates. I am in the class of 2017 at South Salem High School in Salem, Oregon, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.52. I am a member of the leadership team at my school where we partner with the local community to maintain a positive relationship with the school and serve as peer mentors to other students.
For the 2014 and 2015 football seasons our team went undefeated in the Greater Valley Conference. I started on Varsity at center as a sophomore and junior. I was selected First Team All-League my junior year and was named Offensive Lineman of the Year by my teammates and coaches. My sophomore year I was selected Second Team All-League and made the 1,000 pound club for strength training.
My dream is to play football at the collegiate level where I can contribute my skills, leadership and strong work ethic to better the program and myself. At this time I am undecided on my major.
Accountability, hard work, dedication, honesty and reliability are important to me. These characteristics have made me who I am today. My trainers and coaches have consistently said that I am very coachable and have been impressed with my strength, hard work and dedication.
