Personal Statement
My name is Donnie West. I'm a Junior at Baldwin High School in Western Pennsylvania. Baldwin is a quad A school where I play against and along side top athletes in Western PA. I started varsity as a Sophomore at inside line backer where I felt as though I was a bit undersized playing at 175lbs. However, I managed to lead the team in tackles for half of the season and finished first among linebackers and 3rd on the team in total tackles. This year I made a position change and started this season at Sam outside linebacker. Also, I lined up at defensive end on obvious passing downs where I gave opposing offenses a tough time rushing the QB. I recorded a team high 13 sacks in 5 games. I started this season with high expectations for myself and was well on my way to fulfilling my goals by leading my team throughout 5.5 games in tackles with 47, 32 which were solo,19 for a loss and 17 assisted. Also, I forced 3 fumbles and recovered two. Unfortunately my season ended 6 games into the season. I broke my leg on October 4th and had my most recent checkup on January 14 and I'm a full go with no restrictions. For my upcoming senior year, I will be making another position change and going back to inside linebacker. I have been playing football since the age of 7 and my goal is to use football to help further my education. I'm extremely passionate about the game as well as extremely focused and determined on accomplishing my goals. My work ethic is incredible, I push myself in everything I do, day in and day out. Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable. I am the type of player that is first to practice, meetings, and film study as well as last to leave. I am a leader on my team and will not be out worked. I use every tool that is available for me to improve both on and off the field. I study all opponents film and my own on hudl to see where I have improved and can improve. I am a student of the game and there is constantly room for improvement. Anything I can do to get a leg up on the competition I take full advantage of. I am currently doing two a days to get back in form for my senior season, as of now my coach tells me I'm moving back to inside backer for my senior season. Leave no doubt I will return better than ever!! I'm already running, cutting and doing football drills within a week after being cleared.
I WILL NOT BE OUT WORKED!!
