My name is Haley Nieman and I am currently 16 years old. I attend Baldwin High School and I will graduate in 2024.
Soccer has played a huge role in my life ever since I was 3 years old. I play for three teams including my high school varsity team, my Club team PFC, and PAWest ODP. Playing soccer has taught me more than the game, it has taught me teamwork, accountability, determination, and perseverance. Another very important life skill soccer has taught me is leadership. As a goalkeeper, I have to be ‘the coach on the field’ and I do not take that job lightly. I am willing to hold my teammates, and myself, accountable for actions both on and off the field. I also played softball for 7 years, basketball for 4 years, and track for 2 years which didn’t only teach me more lessons, but it made me a more well rounded athlete. I have experienced some difficult life situations, but soccer was always an outlet for me. Ever since I was six years old I have dreamed of playing in college and being an inspiration to other young girls like female collegiate athletes are to me.
Academically, much like my athletics, I take very seriously. I hold myself to a very high standard and I also enjoy challenging myself with my course load! I currently have a 4.33 weighted GPA and a 3.98 unweighted GPA. I intend to study biology, psychology, or medicine in college. I participate in Best Buddies, Special Olympics, and Mini-Thon at my school which provides me with great opportunities to help those who may not always be included in things! I am also on the leadership board for Mini-Thon which provides me with an opportunity to take a hands-on approach to a very important cause. In addition to being on the Mini-Thon leadership board, I am also on the youth leadership boards for both my club team and my parish grouping. These leadership roles in different aspects of my life give me the opportunity to work with a variety of people and it ultimately helps me to be a better teammate on and off the field.
Thank you for considering me for your school and your team!
