Hello! My name is Leah Eichhorn. My hockey journey started in 2017 with the Little Pens Learn to Play program and I joined my first team in 2018. I have played for 4 Pittsburgh area teams: the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite, SHAHA Panthers, Baldwin Middle School, and the South Pittsburgh Rebellion. For 4 of those years, I was playing on 2 teams per season. In the 2022-2023 season, my first year with the Rebellion, we were the Mid-Am District champions and went to the Tier II National Championship tournament. While we didn't win, the experience was one I'll never forget and only fueled my desire to continue playing hockey at a high and elite level.
I first started off playing center, but a move to wing in my third year playing was what really stuck (although I always dreamed of being a goalie). Depending on the coach, I have played both right and left-wing and am very comfortable in both positions. I have no problem stepping in to take faceoffs and love when I get to take them.
I am a freshman at Baldwin-Whitehall High School and look forward to playing in the girls PIHL hockey program this year. My grades are mostly A's and some B's. I have made the honor and high honor roll in the last 2 years. Besides gym class (I love to always be moving), my favorite class is currently math. I have a great teacher.
I love everything about hockey. My parents often joke that they have to almost physically force me to take a break. Even after playing 2 games and being exhausted, the only thing I want to do when I get home is grab my gloves, stick and roller blades and head out to the street to skate and shoot. This game has allowed me to meet so many amazing people, see some great places, and create a whole new family. The ice is where I feel the most alive and at home. For the last 2 seasons, when my game schedule allows, I have been volunteering with some teammate at Pittsburgh I.C.E. Pittsburgh I.C.E. is a local non profit organization that is a part of the NHL’s “Hockey is for Everyone” program, offering kids of all socio-economic backgrounds the opportunity to learn to play ice hockey. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know and help the kids.
I know that I want hockey to be a part of my life for as long as I can keep it there. I hope to find a good school with good academics that will allow me to pursue my passion for the game.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. I hope that we can talk soon.
