My name is Jacob Andes. I am a defensive end and offensive tackle at Happy Valley High School in Elizabethton, TN. I found my love for football when I was 5 years old. One step on the field and I was hooked. For some, football is a hobby, but honestly, for me I feel like it is a calling.
Football has taught me the importance of discipline, determination, and perseverance. I have worked as hard as I can everyday, on and off the field, to become the best player and leader that I can be. I attended Elizabethton City Schools in Elizabethton, TN, where I played defensive tackle and defensive end from the age of 5-16. My family and I recently moved and I enrolled at Happy Valley High School, which is a much smaller school, but that did come with it’s advantages.
Being part of a smaller football program has allowed me to expand my overall knowledge of the game and positions such as offensive tackle, in addition to the defensive positions that I previously played. At Happy Valley, I am a starter for both offense and defense. I am currently working on my catching ability and route running techniques so that I will have even more opportunities as a tight end to make a difference that will benefit my team on the field.
I am currently in my Senior year working hard in the classroom towards a 3.0 GPA. I do everything possible, both on and off the field, to be the best leader that I can be and provide a positive environment for my team mates. I was extremely honored to be selected as a team captain in our final game of the season last year and seveal occasions this year. Being recognized as a leader at my new school meant a lot to me because I do everything that I can to be a leader both on the field and in the classroom. I am looking forward to having a great Senior season, and being able to leave a legacy behind me with the underclassmen.
My goal for the future is to find a college or university that will allow me to grow academically and athletically. I am ready to work hard in the classroom to make sure that I meet and maintain any eligibility requirements while working towards obtaining my Bachelors degree. I plan to pursue a career in physical therapy, strength and conditioning, or another related field so that I can help other athletes in the future. I hope to have a great collegiate football career that will allow me to grow as an athlete and young man. Football has become a staple in my life, so it is very important that I find a college or university that has a program that will help me become the best student athlete and leader that I can be.
