Personal Statement
College football has always been a dream of mine and I have dedicated my entire high school career to the football team. My freshman year I was pulled up to the varsity squad three games into the season and started at middle linebacker for the remainder of the games. I quickly learned and adapted to the differences between varsity and JV ball and helped my team turn the schools football program in the right direction. Being new to defense when pulled up to play linebacker, I enjoyed experiencing the comradery of the group. Once sophomore year came around, I was a full time varsity starter at safety. I continue to be the last line of defense at safety and a great play maker at receiver in now my junior year.
I also play varsity basketball at ESD and started in last year's playoffs. Basketball has helped me become a better football player as it helps my footwork and decision making. Also, I was honored with accepting the Defensive Player of the Year, Rebounder of the Year, and Team Player of the Year during basketball season.
Although sports are my passion, I have always put my grades first. I finished my sophomore year strong with a 3.62 GPA and while taking Honors Chemistry. My junior year will include more difficult classes including AP Chemistry and AP Government, but school will always come first because I believe having a great education is the best way to advance in our society.
As the award I received in basketball, Team Player of the Year, states, I am all about playing as a team and doing whatever I can to help fellow teammates out. What greater team sport is there other than football? None. That is why I have always loved playing it. There is no other feeling like the brotherhood you share with your fellow players.
