I want to win. I want to be the best. This applies to not only basketball but all the other areas of my life. I believe that if I always try to be the best I'm capable of, it will positively impact everyone around me and make us all better. This drives my strong work ethic in practice, during games, and in school. I also know I make mistakes but I love to learn. I've been lucky to have great coaches, teachers, and my parents who all want me to succeed. I'm learning to become a great listener.
For basketball, I've been playing since 5th grade. I've been a starter for all my teams. I think that's because of my size, ability, will to win, and putting the team first. I was co-captain of my 8th-grade school team. That meant a lot personally because it was my teammates that voted. I've played AAU for two years now and I love the high level of competition and talent. It has helped me set a very high standard for myself.
I love to learn in school and want to be well-rounded. Academically, I've had a 4.2 average and enjoy my advanced classes. I'm in the school band and was selected as a member of the County Honor Band. I'm on the track team as well and have a goal of breaking the school triple jump record. I'm also in Boy Scouts and have been since 1st grade.
For college, I want to play on a team and for a school that fits everything I mentioned above. I know that doesn't always happen but I can set a high goal. I would like a coach that loves to teach and has high standards for the team on and off the court. I would like to go to a college that has high academic standards where I can grow as a student. I want to make a difference for the program so at the end of my time there, the coach and staff would say I helped make us all better.
