I first experienced golf as a toddler, playing in my grandfather’s backyard. I think they hoped that I would pick up the game. I use to play a lot of sports, and I still love to compete, but there is just something different about competing in golf. You’re up against the golfers, the elements, your mindset, and your abilities. I didn’t pick it up as much as I got swept away with it. I want it to remain a part of my life even if I’m not on a mini-tour or in majors during my career. The reason is I really enjoy the chance at being better tomorrow, and the little tweaks that can have big effects on my game. When I started the game I had no lessons and at my first golf lesson in the 8th grade I learned that my swing was fundamentally bad. It took me to the summer before my sophomore year of high school to start seeing the benefits of many swing changes. Now going into my junior year I’m better than ever and I know I have better golf in me. I enjoy the work, I apply that to my studies and promise if I’m at your school and playing, I’ll also be your academic all-american in the classroom. I am serious about being a student-athlete, knowing that I will be a professional outside of golf as well. My parents are both doctors, and they’ve showed me that succeeding is about applied effort. I look forward to an opportunity in your program.
