Hello coaches, my name is Thanos Sarantou and I’m a senior at St. Francis de sales Toledo. Inside school I’m most often recognized for me leadership skills and my ability to communicate with others. As far as the academic side of school, I honestly struggled. My life took an unexpected turn at a very odd time for me. In 2015 my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. At the time I wasn’t very sure what this all meant, but later going into high school it hit me. My grades and my social life grew farther and farther away from me as I tried to focus on my mom’s well-being. I was able to get by thought, and all the experiences I’ve had gave me so much insight on what to expect for life and how to navigate it. The most valuable lesson this gave me was to never take absolutely anything for granted. To be thankful for what you have because you never truly know when it will go away. I try to show this in every aspect of my life, even on the golf course. I give every round I play my absolute all, because no matter what, I can always say I tried my best. My dream is play collage golf and I will not take any opportunity given to me for granted.
