Hello, my name is Boden Rudloff and I am a sophomore at Harborfields High School from Long Island, New York. I was introduced to hockey when I was 8 years old through my mother who is the tennis director at a country club that had an outdoor hockey rink. Originally I was a defenseman, but the coach asked the team if anyone had an interest in playing goalie. Since no one else wanted the position, I stepped up. From that day forward, this had been my position. During my time at the county club, I was honored with two very special awards, “The Spirit of Hockey Award”, and “The Erichsen Award”. My skill set, competitiveness, and leadership abilities set me apart from my team and lead to me receiving these awards.
I have played on my school’s club team since seventh grade, and every year since then I have been asked to play at a higher level. In seventh grade, I played on the Freshman team. During eighth and ninth grade, I played on the JV team. Currently, I am the starter for the Varsity team, as well as my 18U AA travel team which I joined as a fifteen-year-old.
My immediate goal is to make a junior team, while my future goal is to make a D1 or D3 college-level team. I am working towards these goals by attending weekly private lessons with an NHL-level goalie coach, improving my flexibility, and improving my overall nutrition. In addition to that I am continuing to improve my academics and overall GPA. Outside of hockey, I have played on my school's Varsity tennis team for three years and have started every match since eighth grade. I also volunteer at my country club where I help younger goalies improve their skills. I teach tennis for juniors where I am a vital part of a tennis summer camp staff. I am a current member of “Distributive Education Clubs of America'', or DECA. This organization helps prepare me for a future job in business or finance.
Throughout my years of playing hockey I have always enjoyed being on the ice. I want to continue to get better every practice, game, and tournament, and to give my all every single time I step onto the rink.
