Personal Statement
The moment I picked up a lacrosse stick, I knew I'd found my game. I started as an offensive midfielder. I became very competitive at face-offs during my eight grade season, but now am back to concentrating on being part of the offensive team and am honored to have always been a member of the man up team. Because I was so serious about face-offs, I understand how important it is to protect the ball. I love to clear the ball and use my speed to cut through traffic. I am just as committed to getting assists as I am to scoring goals. I have always had one of the fastest shots on my teams and love to use it, but I can also get past the defense and score on the doorstep. Lacrosse is my passion -- I strive to be the hardest working player on the field.
This past year -- my sophomore year -- was both challenging and exciting for me. The Loyola Varsity team won the Southern Section Championship last year, so we were under a lot of pressure to repeat. I was the only sophomore on the offensive team (one of 4 on a team of 35 players including 13 seniors, many of whom are headed off to play college lax including (Ryder Mora, Maryland; Jonathan Partamian, Syracuse; Nick Mohler, BU; and Joe Theuer, Tufts)). I started the season as the 7th midfielder and worked my way up to 4th, which was awesome and allowed me to play with Mora and Partamian, who, along with the rest of the players, taught me so much. As the season progressed, I got more and more field time and I played in all the championship tournament games including Los Angeles Championship vs. Pales Verdes High and the Southern Section Championship vs. Foothill. It was a thrilling ride. I'm so proud to be a part of that championship team. Our coaches, Seth Cohen and Brett Tietjen added very competitive match ups to our schedule, so I got to play against some of the best teams in the state including St. Ignatius, Foothill and San Clemente.
I also had a great fall/winter club/showcase season, playing on Legends of the West, LA Heat 2019 and LA Cobras Elite. Summer lax starts this weekend and I can't wait! Our varsity stretched from November until mid May, but I can't wait to get back out there. First stop, Maryland for the Terrapin Classic with LA Heat 2019, then I'm headed to Colorado for the Lacrosse Masters Showcase in Boulder and the Denver Shootout also with LA Heat. I still have a few days of finals, but after that I'll load the rest of my events, including 3 days with Kyle Harrison at an invite only offensive combine with Legends, as well as highlights from my HS season.
