My name is James Steiner and I’m pleased to be providing you with my background, my academic prowess and achievements, my skill set and success on the lacrosse field and what I hope to achieve in my college years and beyond.
I am currently a junior at St. Augustine High School (“Saints”), a private Catholic high school in San Diego, California. I’ve lived almost my entire life in Coronado, CA. I am currently a 5 '11, 160-pound defenseman who has played competitive, club lacrosse almost my entire life and loves all aspects of the game. I am committed to this sport and have prioritized it in my life.
My high school career started immediately upon my arrival at Saints. I started and played my entire Freshman year l on varsity as an LSM due to the strong, veteran close defensive core we had that year. The following year, as a Sophomore I secured a starting spot on close defense as well as Captain of the team, leading the team to the Division 1 Championship Game. Additionally, I was awarded defensive MVP of the team for that 2023 season, and led our defense in caused turnovers, ground balls, and assists.
At the same time, I started on my 2025 LaxDawgs, under Coach Alex Cade, as well as the 2024 team and the 2024 Select Team at multiple tournaments. To highlight, I was a part of the all-tournament team, as well as the division MVP, for Adrenaline's Phoenix Rise tournament. I also led the team to 4 Championships in our last 6 tournaments. Recently, I also was selected for the 2025 RC Elite Carolina lacrosse team, under Coach Jono Zissi, and will be playing for both RC and LaxDawgs throughout the Fall, Winter and Summer seasons.
As I mentioned earlier, I take both my lacrosse and my academic careers very seriously. I had a 4.0 cumulative GPA and a 4.33 weighted GPA my sophomore year, taking one Ap and one honors class. I was selected to be a part of the National Honors Society and have been on the President's List for the last 3 semesters. Currently as a Junior, I am taking 8 total classes in a 6 class schedule, 5 of those 8 classes are AP classes, and 1 honors.
I am very active in my community, at school and within my community. In school, I am a part of the National Honors Society, Associated Student Body (ASB), Vice President of the Robotics Club, and a member of the Hiking Club. I also have over 75 service hours on record.
Outside of school, I am a 5th-degree altar server at my local church, won the 2018 Optimist Club award in my town, and helped coach the younger generation of Kindergarten to 2nd Grade lacrosse players, as well as help with Beach clean ups and homeless meal packing.
As you can see, I am a dedicated and motivated player, student, leader, coach, volunteer, big brother and community member. I am excited about continuing my lacrosse career and academic success into college and I believe I would make a great addition as a player on any team, a student in any classroom and a leader in the local school community. Thank you.
