Personal Statement

My name is Nicholas “Cole” Gabriel, class of 2021, and have been playing lacrosse for 9 years. I am a hard working student athlete both in the classroom and on the field. I have excelled in my academic studies. I have already taken numerous honors and advance placement classes and will continue to challenge myself academically. Academic success is a major priority for me during my high school experience.

On the field, I am a strong and aggressive midfielder. I have an outstanding work ethic and lacrosse IQ.  I have been noted for great field vision and outstanding team play and would be a great addition to your team. This spring as a sophomore, I played on my varsity lacrosse team at Cambridge High School, Milton, GA. Our team had a very good season and made state playoffs. Our team was in desperate need of a FOGO and I was utilized as such to fill this team void. As a youth player I did face off quite often but would then remain on field as an offensive midfielder, I worked extremely hard all season and dramatically improved as a FOGO. For the season I won 52% of my face offs, but in the last 7 games I won almost 70% of my face offs. I was also second on my team for ground ball pickups.

The past two summers I played with Atlanta Empire Lacrosse 2021 Elite team and scored 80 goals with 79 assists. I was also named to the all star team at the 2018 East Coast Summer Showcase. Last fall I started playing for Thunder LB3 2021 Elite team and will continue playing with them in this summer. This fall my coach stated, “Cole scored some really nice goals in close games to help us finish the fall 10-1-1.”

My future goals include excelling in my collegiate academic studies and playing college lacrosse. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right academic college match at the highest level of athletic competition.
