While I have been very active in a broad range of sports, Lacrosse has been my passion since I played in my first game in second grade. For the past two years I had the opportunity to play on the varsity lacrosse team as a Freshman and Sophomore. Both seasons we made it to the regional finals, but lost. My goal is to help our team get over the hump and advance to State these next two seasons.
The past two summers I played for the Team Minnesota Lacrosse, where we traveled from East Coast to West coast and everywhere in between and played some of the best teams in the country. This experience has given me a perspective of what it takes to become an elite Lacrosse player, and I am committed to working hard and improving my game and taking it to the next level.
Currently I am playing on the Varsity High School Football team where I play defensive end. I was fortunate to be the starting left end on the Varsity last year as a Sophomore and again this year as a Junior. The skills to be a strong defensive end are very transferable to Lacrosse. Speed to get off the ball, strength to fight off blockers, and tenacity to finish.
Football season will be over by the end of October at which point in time I will begin training for the spring lacrosse season. I will participate in several winter Lacrosse camps, our local winter league, and train hard with a local fitness trainer to be ready for my Junior Lacrosse Season. We are excited for great things this season. My hopes are to have a very strong Junior year with the hopes of gaining interest from colleges with strong lacrosse programs. My ultimate goal is play Lacrosse at the collegiate level. I will continue to work hard to achieve this goal, but always keeping in mind the most important priority which is to my academics both now and for the future.
Thanks for checking out my profile. All the best to you, Shane Kalb
