Personal Statement

Hello!  My name is Christian Martinez and I have played soccer since the age of 6.  Currently I play club soccer for KC Fusion and high school varsity soccer for Olathe Northwest High School in Olathe, Kansas.  During my time playing soccer I have had the opportunity to experience a high level of competition.  I have traveled across the country with my club team and have experienced national competition format in various tournaments from state and regional qualifiers.  I have seen my skillset both grow and improve as a player.  I started off playing Left Forward with my club, being left footed, and as my career has progressed I have been moved to Left Back.  Currently I play Left Forward for my high school team and Left Back for my club team, which has provided me the versatility to move up and down the field.  A previous coach told me my understanding of both offensive and defensive positions would make me a better player as I can move from offense to defense seamlessly.  I thoroughly enjoy the team concept of soccer as I thrive playing my teammates through with a long ball or cross.  I take pride in my ability to read the field as I find the open lanes.  I have grown to understand the importance of leadership from the defender position and helping my teammates react to counters, as well as give encouragement during intense matches.  As I get older, I realize the importance of not only being a leader and good teammate on the field, I also understand the importance of being one off the field.  Recently I felt a desire to give back to my community and I have volunteered at a local homeless shelter, Project 1020, serving meals.  Real life concepts are very much in play both on and off the field.  I have a personnel goal of making myself and teammates better on and off the field.  I look forward to playing soccer after high school and be the best player, teammate, student, friend, and community leader I can be.  I both love and respect the game of soccer as it prepares me for life.

Christian Martinez

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
