Personal Statement

I have been playing soccer since I was 2 years old and the sport has always been my passion. Once I truly began playing the sport competitively at age 8 I began aspiring to play at both the collegiate and professional levels. What causes me to stand out in comparison to other players is that I have a very strong work ethic, desire to consistently learn and improve,  and thirst for competition. I have a positive and open minded attitude, I am a team player, and always look to help the players around me improve and succeed. Not only do I have a desire to succeed on the soccer field, but also in the classroom. This is evident in my consistent good grades and desire to achieve my best in school at a very young age.

  • Premier League Legends Camp
  • 7/15/21 to 9/19/21
  • This camp was an incredible experience put together by Carolina Velocity FC (my club) partnered with XL Sports World. Through this trip I was able to work with my highly experienced club coaches as well as premier legends including Alan Smith and Gary Teale. Over this short time period I was able to soak up so much beneficial information that greatly helped me during the camp and is still helping me now. At the end of the camp I had an evaluation done by Coach Ross Klinefelter (one of my club coaches). The evaluation went as follows: Game Understanding & Decision Making 9/10, Initiative 9/10, Focus 10/10, Optimal Technical 9/10, Optimal Physical 9/10, Responsible 10/10, Tactical 9/10. Overall Comments; Having Dylan at camp was such a pleasure. Great kid, even better attitude. Always works hard, always wants to do well and push himself. The biggest thing for me is becoming more vocal. Understanding other players roles and responsibilities will allow him to give instructions to build going forward by demanding more off them players. This being said, Dylan has unbelievable technical abilities, composure on the ball and his deliveries are something amazing to see. Keep at the vocal side of the game, but impressed! Well done mate.
  • Camp/Event
  • EXACT Sports Southeast Boys Academic 50 ID Camp
  • 7/01/21 to 7/03/21
  • I had the opportunity to attend this camp over the summer, and it was an incredible opportunity. The reason this was such a phenomenal experience was due to the fact that I was surrounded by players with the same goals as me, which pushed me and made me a better player by the end of the weekend. Over the course of the weekend you are coached by a college coach, and I was coached by Coach Brooks of the University of Kentucky. At the end of the camp I was give an evaluation, which was as follows. Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars Technical Abilities: 92/100 For my passing he said; creates good opportunities for teammates with accurate passes and rarely over or under hits passes. For my ball control he said; quality first touch in space and controls the ball under pressure. Tactical Abilities: 95/100 He said for field spacing; was highly active and involved in the attack, and I give good distance of support and passing angles for teammates. For group play he said; play was elevated in team activities, great understanding of roles and responsibilities within a team. Physical Abilities: 95/100 For endurance he said; great work rate throughout camp, showed endurance that helped effectiveness especially late. For balance he said; seemed to handle the challenges faced well, good job staying on feet and not getting knocked off the ball. Mental Abilities: 95/100 For coachable he said; responds well to coaching, asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. For team player he said; great team first attitude, was encouraging and supportive to teammates throughout camp. Coach Comments: Dylan is a great lad who can play on either wing. He has the ability to get into dangerous areas and deliver a good ball. He doesn't shy away from his defensive responsibilities either. I would like to see you be more direct when running with the ball. Can your first thought be I'm going at my man and beating him with pace. Get your head up when you have time on the ball. If you aren't dribbling at your man then can you play a ball in behind to your forward or into his feet for a one two. Always look to isolate a defender 1v1. I feel your knowledge of the game could help you lead the players around you more. Give them information throughout games and help them understand what they should be doing.
