Personal Statement
Ever since I was young, my father helped to instill in me a love of soccer. Although I have participated in many sports, some of which I have continued into high school, soccer is my passion. I started to play organized soccer at the age of five and have played ten years of club soccer competing in the Minneapolis area/MYSA League as well as in the American Premier League and NPSL, trained four years with the Wisconsin Olympic Development Program, and have been on varsity each of my four years at Onalaska High School where I was a starter for three years and finished as the second, third, and second leading scorer, respectively. I was second team all-conference as a junior and first team all-conference, team MVP, and captain as a senior.
I want to play competitive soccer for as long as I can, especially at the collegiate level. I have a good work ethic, both on and off the field, am versatile, see the field well, have good strength and composure on the ball, and can finish with either foot. Most importantly, I strive to continuously improve. My developmental goals for this year include improving my pace and ability to play the ball in the air.
Academics are equally important to me. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and strive to challenge myself by exploiting every opportunity to take accelerated and AP classes. I am a national merit semi-finalist. I’m looking for a program that can provide a competitive soccer experience as well as one that can challenge me academically. I am willing to consider programs at a variety of levels (Division I, II or III) as long as they fit me well.
