Hello, my name is Charles Gilbertson and swimming has been a passion of mine since I was young. I first started swimming competitively when I was about five and have greatly improved due to hard work, dedication, and excellent coaching. Thanks to these three things my swimming abilities continue to grow each year. In my experience, swimming has provided a family-like atmosphere among teammates and coaches, building a strong foundation that supports its athletes. This is what I am looking for in a collegiate swimming program. I want to find a swim family where I belong and I will pour my time and effort into that program.
I also know it is important to have balance in your life. Swimming is important but my main priorities are family, school, and swimming, in that order, since I am a student-athlete. The program that I am looking for must have an educational program that meets my needs, either in engineering or teaching. I know that swimming will not last forever and I want this college experience to prepare me for my future. I want the program to push me to be my best self as an athlete, teammate, and student. Thank you for your time and I hope you consider me for your program.

Hello, my name is Charles Gilbertson and swimming has been a passion of mine since I was young. I first started swimming competitively when I was about five and my enthusiasm for swimming has grown throughout the years through hard work, dedication, and excellent coaching. Thanks to these varied experiences, I have become a better all-around swimmer and my love for this sport has continued to grow. Swimming has a strong family and foundation that supports all of its athletes and works with them to unlock their potential. This is what I am looking for in a collegiate swimming program and I will be putting in the yardage and extra hours to improve my abilities. However, my priorities are family, school, religion, and swimming. I understand that the college team I choose will be the last team I swim with, so I want a good education to prepare me for my career. Yet I still want that program to push me to my breaking point to make me all the faster. Thank you for your time and I hope you consider me for your program.
