Personal Statement
I am an energetic 17-year-old that is motivated and determined to do my best in various aspects of life. My competitive nature is seen most in swimming. I swim for the Sandhills Sandsharks. I have been swimming competitively since the age of 6. Until the age of 14, I swam for Catawba Valley Aquatic Club in Hickory, NC under Coach Paul Schiffel. My family then moved to Pinehurst, NC, but I was determined that the move was not going to end my swimming. My Sandhills Sandsharks team underwent a coaching change this past summer. It was an uncertain time for the team, but I was always at practice, and I found that I was able to motivate myself with the help of my family and some on-line motivational videos. In my spare time, I enjoy golf, fishing, and hunting. I consider myself well-rounded and well-liked. I am a member of the National Honor Society, FCA, and a member of Student 2 Student (a program where I help orient transitional students to my school). I volunteer after school with the disabled teenagers at my school. I am excited to be helping them with the Special Olympics.
Last summer, I worked as a pool attendant and lifeguard. I have also been working for almost a year at Pinehurst Pizza where I have washed dishes, made pizzas, mopped floors, and waited tables. I enjoy making my own spending money.
My immediate goals include doing my best in school and swimming. After high school, I want to swim in college and continue improving. I work hard to have good grades and good test scores, as well as the best possible swim times. I haven’t chosen a career, but I want to major in Business.
