I started playing lacrosse at 11 years old. I was playing several sports, but as soon as I picked up a stick, lacrosse quickly became my favorite. Early on I primarily played defense, this helped grow my appreciation for the teamwork aspect of lacrosse. You will make mistakes, but your teammates will have your back. Because of my endurance level, I transitioned to the midfield position and started to thrive on the attack side of the field as well. Seeing older players within my program make incredible shots and plays gives me goals to strive for. I see an older girl make a side arm shot and I make it my mission to develop a side arm shot of my own. I continue to study my more experienced teammates and learn from not only their successes but their mistakes. I am always looking for critical feedback and advice to grow my game. When I realize I have made an error, I make sure to ask a coach or a teammate how I could have executed the play better. I believe that at the highest level of my sport, scoring goals does not only come from driving the net but from great cohesive ball movement, motion, communication, and most of all teamwork. And in order to gain that unified play style you need to lead your team through the process. I pride myself on leading my team on the field and on the sidelines and also on acting as a role model for younger girls within my program. I have experienced many different play styles and victories, but the best feeling is winning through a team effort offensively and defensively.
I want to continue to play lacrosse at the college level. I hope to attend a small school where I can focus on academics and lacrosse with a feeling of an intimate team and community. Whether I find my place at a Division 1, 2, or, 3 school, I hope to gain a great academic degree as well as the experience of playing at the collegiate level.
