Personal Statement
One of my goals and aspirations is to play at the college level in track and/or football, and to be a national champion at any level in which I play. I am a good candidate for a team because I have a strong work ethic, I am coachable, and I am determined to continue to improve. I am different from other recruits because my character allows me to focus on my goals while refusing to give in to the usual peer pressures which could limit my athletic ability or potential. I can prioritize my time based upon my goals, and I am willing to make sacrifices to achieve what I want. For example, my focus, determination and work ethic allowed me to become a starting Varsity defensive back in football as well as a NM State Track Champion as a sophomore. In 2017, I took 2nd in the NM 4A State 300M hurdles, 2nd in the NM State 1600M Sprint Medley Relay, and 5th in the NM 4A 110M Hurdles. I also won the NM 4A-District 2 1600M Sprint Medley Relay Championship title running the 400M leg. I always give my best efforts in my academics despite being at a disadvantage due to learning challenges, and I continue to push myself so that the letter grade I am given and my grade point average may someday properly represent who I am and what I know. I'm proud to end my high school career by earning honor roll each trimester of my senior year.
