Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Jay Stone. I just ended my junior year of high school. I come from a big family of nine people in which I am the third oldest. Growing up I was a baseball, soccer and basketball player. My coaches and teammates always told me that I was fast. So when I got to seventh grade I wanted to know just how fast I actually was, so I went out for the track team. I was no track star when I started out, but I found out that I really liked the sport. And after being inspired by my middle school sprint coach, I decided that track would be my sport.
Sense then I have grown into a totally different athlete. My past junior year I fortunate enough to be selected by the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation to compete in Puerto Rico for the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational. And the following week I competed at New Balance Nationals and earned All-American honors.
Also, away from the track I strive to be the best student and person that I can be. I was awarded the Judy A. Gelnett award. Which is given to a young man and a young women of the junior class that in the eyes of the faculty and administration best serve as a positive influence within the school. This award was made in memory of Judy A. Gelnett who passed away in 1992.
I am looking to go to a school and to be a part of a program that will push me on and off the track so that I can become the best student, person, and athlete that I am capable of becoming.
