Winning the Boys East Coast Championship (BECC 2021) as a freshman was the highlight of my high school career. Finishing 1st at Boys’ Atlantic Northeastern Bid (BANE 2022) as my sophomore year further convinced me to pursue Collegiate Volleyball!
I began playing all other sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer, skating, swimming, skiing, table tennis, etc. when I was in Elementary School. I learned table tennis at the age of 9 and won a Gold at the age of 11 at USA National Table Tennis Tournament. My mom supported me to explore to all kind of sports that I was interested in when I was a kid. My mom is a single parent. My mom’s diligence, persistence, supportive, kindness, and confidence always inspire me. Volleyball is the latest sport I picked up and I love the most. One day in the Fall, 2019 when I entered 8th grade, one of my good friends convinced me into trying out for MVP. I gave it a shot and I made the second team (MVP14-2). I picked it up very quickly. Although, Covid-19 Pandemic commenced in March 2020 which made the indoor practice impossible, the pandemic could not clip my wings. I was very fortunate to have number of coaches who practiced and trained me outdoors during the Pandemic. While at home, I utilized YouTube to continue my training. I used sandbags on my legs and jumps up and down on our stairway. A year later, I made the first team (MVP15-1) and became one of the best players. We won BECC Champion 2021 and BANE Champion 2022.
I am also playing High School Boys’ Volleyball. I am captain for my high school team. I fell in love with the sport. The people who are connected with the sport have pushed me to become better and follow my passion. I like being involved with my team and making sure everyone is doing good both on and off the court. I'm glad I got to grow with my club and high school team
Academically, my GPA Stands strong at 3.71. I manage my time effectively to do good at volleyball and academics. Playing volleyballs gives me a lot of fun. I learned the value of teamwork, leadership, responsibility, commitment, and sacrifice. Attending school gives me a lot of joys, knowledges/skills. I have always been fascinated by sciences and technology. Since I was in first grade, my mom took me to “Take Your Child to Work Day” every year. I had opportunities to listen to scientists and do experiments at the National Institute of Health (NIH) on “Take Your Child to Work Day”. We did an experiment where we extracted DNA from strawberries and that’s when I really fell in love with science.
Now that I’m older and taking high school level sciences with a lab. I found that it’s great fun. For example, we did a flame lab where we lit different elements to show how electron jumps in electron energy levels changed the colors we saw. Learning the science behind that and then seeing it in real life was so cool to me. I definitely will pursue career in STEM. I will be honor to study at a college/university that will be a good fit for my athletically as well as academically. I believe my sport talent and my character and leadership skills will be a good asset for your school and volleyball team.
