My name is Krister Leya and I am a class of 2025 graduate. I am very intrigued and active in volleyball as a sport in and out of school and club, which makes me interested in playing during college. My family was born in Latvia, and moved to America in 2006. Since then I was born a year later and lived here my whole life. At a young age I loved to play sports. I had started with soccer, then moved to basketball, then participated in karate and other hobbies. All of which made me love to have a team connection like no other. Nothing had really stuck to me like volleyball has. Even though, I had touched a volleyball for the very first time my freshman year, I just knew this was the sport for me. Going onto the court with a smile on my face, having support from upper-class players and even my own teammates made me strive, where I can now do the same. Tutoring teammates after school, giving advice on volleyball skills that seem difficult at first, and me being now the peer mentor that they need. After that moment joining clubs, different camps, playing beach volleyball with friends all had fueled up to the moment where playing volleyball in college is my next big step.
