When I first stepped on the court freshman year of high school, I had this overwhelming feeling that this was where I belonged. The feeling is hard to describe, but it felt comfortable and natural. You could say it was love at first pass! The void I felt all those years playing other sports was instantly filled with something I did not recognize at first. All I knew at the time was playing gave me happiness that I never experienced before, and I never wanted it to end. I soon realized what was missing from my life for all those years—passion. I finally found something I had a burning passion for and wanted to put everything I had into the sport. Volleyball quickly started taking up a big part of my life, becoming a very real relationship that I embraced which continues today. Although it has only been a short time that I have been playing, I have become very mentally, physically, and emotionally attached to the sport. It has tested my limits, revealed parts of myself I did not know existed, and taught me many valuable qualities. I love that it requires teamwork and communication, giving me great pleasure in supporting and encouraging my teammates. I want to be the player that everyone looks up to and knows I am not only playing for myself but also for them.
From the moment I started playing, I have had a constant desire to get better. Even after long practices or games, I would drag my mom outside to give me more reps, not caring if the weather was nice, rainy, cold, or dark. Instead of watching Netflix, I regularly found myself binge watching every college volleyball match I could find on YouTube to learn everything I could about the game. The players are role models I admire and look up to, especially Morgan Hentz. What she can do on the court is amazing and watching her inspires me to work hard to be the best defensive player I can be. The feeling of getting a good dig or save is much more exhilarating to me than getting a kill. It is a one-of-a-kind feeling, and so, my heart lies with defense.
Volleyball is my passion. In my heart, I know I have the drive and motivation to succeed—believing in yourself is a powerful thing. Furthering my experiences as a college athlete, while learning from new coaches, playing hard and gaining a second family along the way would truly mean everything to me and be such a gratifying opportunity. The court is my second home, and I want to live here for a very long time! My aspiration is to play at the highest level possible, positively impacting myself as well as my team. My long-term goal is to become a successful student, athlete, and role model to my peers, as well as making my family proud.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
