Hello to any coaches viewing my profile. I hope my profile is finding you in good health. To begin, my name is Sela Jo Rodriguez. I am currently a sophomore at Betty Davis East Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska. My current gpa is a 3.92 with Ap classes such as Ap world history, Chemistry, Medical Terminology and Trigonometry. My graduate year is 2026 and I’m a right handed pitcher, first basemen, third basemen, and a right handed hitter. Softball has been a part of my life since I was eight years old and is now becoming one of my greatest assets when it comes to finding a college. I’ve been fortunate enough to find myself playing for amazing teams throughout the years and honestly I couldn’t ask for a better outcome. At the moment, I play for the AI Bandits in Washington and I belong to their 16u purple team. To go along with that I also play for AK Krush which is a small organization in Anchorage, Alaska.
I was born and raised in Anchorage and have enjoyed living here. Having addressed that, I can confidently say that colder weather is one of my best friends. I would prefer to go to college somewhere with similar weather conditions to Alaska, but that’s quite a lot to ask. Being in warmer areas can be tough sometimes but it’s always nice to experience softball in different conditions. That being said, I don't mind warm weather at all. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”- Kelly Clarkson
I would love to go to a division one or two school but honestly anything is on the table for me. I’m completely open to any school, especially if that school held great meaning to me. I’ve interacted with many NAIA and junior college coaches throughout the years and I’ve loved getting to meet them. I met many coaches through the Great Alaska Showcase along with other camps throughout the years. I love getting to learn more about the different coaching styles around the country. Being able to take what I learn home with me is always amazing to share with family and friends and is always a great way to grow as a player.
I don’t have a huge preference on how populated or large a college campus should be. Whether it’s a big or small school, I think it’s the classes and people that really make the difference. Being around a cool town also matters to me. I would like to be somewhere where there’s fun things to do within an hour or two of the campus. I think having to practice and study can tire people out ,so taking a break to do something fun for yourself is necessary.
In school, my favorite subjects are math and science. I’ve been looking into studying Pharmacy or something in the medical field.Things like that really interest me and I think I would take a liking to studying those kinds of subjects. I also love to cook and culinary school sounds like a lot of fun. If I had the opportunity to take a class like that then I’d for sure take it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. If you took interest in my personal statement and enjoyed the videos I have up on my profile, please feel free to reach out to me through this email. [email protected]. If you would like, I will gladly send out my softball schedule for the year and if in the area, please come and see me play!
Sincerely, Sela J. Rodriguez.
