Hello! My name is Allison Greenberg and I am in the Class of 2017. I attend the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia. I am the Varsity team catcher and utility player at both my school and with my travel team, the Georgia Impact-Whiteside 18U.
I excel in academics as well as athletics, and I have always received top grades in school. The Westminster School is an elite college preparatory school in the Southeast, and like many of my team and classmates, I strive to be the best student possible. My academic goals have changed recently. I had always thought that medicine would be my final career path. However, my love of mathematics, puzzles and logic challenges which I do for fun, has led me in a different direction. I will pursue a major in Computer Science and Mathematics, and minor in my other two interests; Theatre Arts and Creative Writing. My SAT score (from March, 2015) ranks in the top 98% in the country. I hope to qualify as a National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalist. My goal is to be an NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete each year that I play collegiate softball.
Having played softball since age 7, I have worked with many coaches. My favorite by far is Crystl Bustos. I love working with Crystl. She teaches success on and off the softball field. The most valuable lessons are about her personal work ethic and what it takes to be a champion. I have worked with Crystl since 2012, and hope to continue to do so throughout my high school and collegiate career. Her concept of hitting and playing the game has been an essential part of my success. As I work through high school, college and graduate school, the lessons of Crystl Bustos will always ring out loud and clear. There are no shortcuts to success; hard work, clear goals, and knowledge of why you do what you do. I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with her.
I am known for my own personal work ethic. Aside from hitting and fielding practice, I workout at Hammersmith Sports (http://www.hammersmithsports.com) with elite speed, agility and strength training routines.
My weekends and summer are spent playing travel ball and attending camps. My travel team, the Georgia Impact-Whiteside team, will continue to play high level showcases and tournaments in the Northeast, Southeast and West coast throughout the season. My prior teams, the Georgia Impact-Stanford attended PGF in 2015, and the Georgia Fire '97 Downs attended ASA 16U Nationals in 2014.
This Spring, I attended the Pennsbury Academic camps, the Pennsbury Invitational and the Team New Jersey Summer Showcase. The Atlanta Legacy Tournament are up next, followed by the PGF Nationals in Huntington Beach, California with the East Coast Elite Gold.
I enjoy the social aspects of softball team camaraderie. I get along well with my teammates and am respected by my coaches. I love our high school coaches. They put in a tremendous amount of time and effort into our training year-round. My softball team and teammates mean the world to me, and I would like to pursue opportunities in college that where I can contribute both on and off the field for team and my school.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement and look forward to hearing from you!
