Hi I'm Mya Beard. I am primarily a catcher, and a secondary outfield/utility player. My main focus is catching, but I play where ever I am needed by my team. As a high school student and an athlete I tend to see myself as hard-working, outspoken, dedicated and intelligent both in school, and throughout sports.
I started at the age of 6 playing recreational ball, by the age of 10 I started playing organized travel softball for the team Rage. When I was in 7th and 8th grade we were 2x winning Illinois Valley Conference Champions for school ball. By 11U I played for another organized travel softball team called Illinois Stars. I played with the travel team all the way up until 15U while also playing school ball. Now for 16U I am currently playing for Midland Magic 06. I play basketball during the winter for school to keep myself in shape. While still conditioning for softball.
As much as I focus on my skills for athletics I also focus on my academics. I have a current GPA of a 3.90 as a sophomore in high school. I take classes that are required in order for me to graduate, but also take exploratory classes like home economics which includes a cooking class, working with children, and learning how to take care of a child. I also am a year two spanish student which I enjoy learning how to speak a foreign language.
I want to minor in sports medicine and major in nursing with the hope of pursuing a career in the medical field.
I will always put my 110% effort into academics and athletics especially the game of softball.
