Personal Statement

I began playing sports at a young age and quickly realized that softball was my passion.  By the time I was in second grade, I was practicing daily in the backyard with my dad.  We would hit, toss, and I would practice catching.  My Christmas lists always included something softball related in order to better my skills.  I played Rec ball for the first 3 years.  By 4th grade, I realized I needed to play at a higher level, play with more serious teams, and play as much as I possibly could.  I started that year with my current personal coach, Richard Finley.  He worked mainly with hitting at first, but we have now started including catching, fielding, and ball placement.  I have been playing travel ball since 4th grade and have played with Queen City Crush ‘06, Cincy Slammers “06, and am currently with Cincy Doom ‘06 - Steele.  I bat and throw right handed and am used by my coaches in many positions.  My primary position has always been catcher, but this year, my coach has encouraged me to put as much time into shortstop.  I am also able to play outfield, and am considered a utility player by my team.  I am a speedy and smart baserunner.  As a fielder, I am keenly aware of the situation, and am always ready for a challenging play.  I have proven to be a coachable, honest, and hardworking player.  I have maintained my humble attitude while continuing to use my strengths to better my team.

  • Elite camp in which campers specialized in one position and worked all morning with college coaches. Data was collected both as a catcher and as a hitter for this event. Other metrics were also collected and reported out to campers. Afternoon included multi-level games coached and observed by college coaches in attendance. Among 50 catchers ranging from grad year 22-26, was ranked 3. On overall skills, ranked 74/250 from ALL camps at Berliner this summer. Also chosen to participate as an ¨All Star¨ for this event and played as one of 16 players in a special game that evening.

  • Select 30 National Training Camp
  • 1/15/21 to 1/18/21
  • For this event, I was trained and coached by Professional USSSA Pride players and former college players. 350 girls from 2021-2025 graduates participated in training, drills, evaluations, and classes. I ranked 74 among all participants and 58 among catchers based on the information gathered by 5 evaluators at the camp. I was observed while playing catcher, shortstop, 2nd base and left field. While my hitting wasn't as successful as I hoped, I made several key plays in the infield and stopped multiple balls behind the plate.

I caught for some of the pitchers. And the coaches gave us pointers on communicating with teammates in order to build relationships.
