Personal Statement
I have been a softball player since I was 6 years old and always have dreamed to play softball in college. I started pitching when I was 7 and have played ice hockey since I was 8. I believe the sport of hockey helps my strength and conditioning for softball. When pitching I love facing down the batter. It is a new battle every time a new batter steps into the batter's box. I am determined to throw every pitch in such a way to deceive the batter and getting an out. My coaches say that I thrive under pressure, which I never think about. In every game I am out there to dominate batters, so big games are no different.
My goals are:
- To be the best pitcher and player I can possibly be. I will do that by practicing and training with the best resources I have available.
- To be a leader with a positive attitude for my team. No matter the outcome of the game I will maintain a positive attitude towards my opponents, teammates and coaches.
- I will respect and listen to my coaches at all times. I will not disrupt team meetings or disturb my teammates.
- No matter the outcome of the game, I have always been taught to win with class, lose with class. Never to disrespect opponents or officials.
I want to be the one that everyone on the field respects - because of attitude and ability. I will succeed in life because of my drive to be the best I can whether it is in academics, sports, or in my personal life. Anything that I do I believe it is worth giving 100%. I don't want someone else to determine my outcome - I want to do that myself. I want the coaches to respect me for what I can do and bring to my team. I believe that this philosophy that has allowed me to be chosen captain for my varsity hockey team my sophomore season.
