Personal Statement
When I was four years old my parents got divorced, so immediately I needed something to turn to. I was always raised around sports, especially football because of my brother and basketball because of my mother and father. So sports is what I turned to. But, I needed to find my identity in a sport. Considering both of my parents played college basketball, basketball is how I found my voice. I have played basketball since I could pick up a ball. But, I started playing real games when I was in second grade. I am now a junior in high school and couldn't be more in love with the game. I am constantly trying to get in a gym. During the school day I am constantly wishing seventh period basketball would hurry up because it makes my day to step onto the hardwood. Every day I practice as if it is the last time I will ever be able to because I never know when the last time I will be able to is. I hate loosing more than anything, and I am a very competitive person. I have a different relationship with each one of my teammates because I truly care about each and every one of them. My teammates call me "mom" because they say I am always taking care of them and because I am always doing the right thing. I am the first one in the gym shooting, and I am the last one out of the gym after I am satisfied for the day. My life has revolved around basketball and I would not want it any other way. I want to take my talent to the next level, simply because it has always been a goal of mine and I would be so honored if I was able to do so.
