I have been playing basketball since I was three years old. I immediately fell in love with the sport the moment I stepped on the court, and I have only grown to love it more as the years have gone by. Growing up watching college and pro basketball, I have always wanted to play at the collegiate level.
I can handle the ball when under pressure while still seeing the floor, I have good range on my 3-point shot, I play strong and physical defense, and I have a high basketball IQ. When on the floor, I play with a lot of passion and I work extremely hard. I always strive to be the hardest worker whether that’s on the court, in the weight room, or in the classroom. I am a good team leader and like to help my teammates any way I can. I push my teammates in practice to better both myself and the team. I am very coachable and help my coaches teach players how to do certain moves and drills. I not only strive to better myself in the game of basketball, but I also find it very important to better my teammates by pushing them in practice and encouraging them.
I play basketball year round playing for the Rockford Wildcats in the offseason and I attend both one on one, and small group trainings. I also attend multiple camps in the summer such as PGC, Doug Bruno, and Sophie Bruner. I play volleyball in the fall and I play softball in the Spring. During the school basketball season, I also play club volleyball. I am in the weight room a lot especially over the summer getting stronger which is where a lot of my athleticism comes from. Being a three sport athlete keeps me busy and in shape throughout the year, which provides me with cross training.
I not only work hard in sports and in the weight room, but I also work extremely hard in the classroom. I study a lot and am able to maintain a high GPA. I am involved in multiple clubs through my school such as Student Council, FFA, FCCLA, and Spanish Club. I spend a lot of my free time volunteering. I am part of the Sauk Valley Impact Program through our local community college, where I will complete 100 community service hours throughout high school. I volunteer at basketball and volleyball camps for the little kids in my community and even at basketball games over the summer. I also volunteer at our community’s Kid’s Cafe in the summer, where lunches are provided for families.
I enjoy being pushed to my limits and I am looking for a college that will do that for me both on the basketball court, and in the classroom. I love to compete and would really love to do so at the collegiate level, but my ultimate goal is for kids in my community to look up to me and see me as their role model and to encourage them to work hard.
