Personal Statement
I am a 6’1” starting varsity forward/center from Wichita, KS and will graduate in 2018. Basketball has been my passion since I started playing in 2nd grade - playing in college is my dream. Both of my parents are military members and, from them, I've learned a lot about hard work, dedication, integrity, strong faith, and leadership. I apply this to all areas of my life, including school and basketball.
I love playing defense and consider it to be one of my strengths. One of my recent and best defensive games pitted me against a 6’5” center and the other team's leading scorer. It was a tough and physical game requiring a lot of on-court communication, but my defense frustrated their center to the point where she was in foul trouble and only scored single digits.
Offensively, I am always working to expand my game in my current position and am working with a trainer who is training me in guard ball handling and shooting skills. My team is number one in my books. I have no problem passing the ball to set up the best scoring scenario and am not afraid to take command on the court. Winning is a team effort, and I like to win.
At the Wichita State University College Prep Camp, I won the the Post 1 on 1 Competition on June 18, 2016. I learned a lot from this experience and am dedicated to do what it takes to make me a better player. I also attended the Point Guard College at Oklahoma State University June 20-24, 2016 to enhance my overall basketball IQ, further develop my leadership, and improve my ability effectively play in tight spaces.
I am looking to play basketball at a college/university with a good Biology/Pre-med degree program. I love helping people, so I plan to take my future career to the medical field. My ideal team is one that works hard, values one another, and appreciates well-rounded players.
