Personal Statement

I am a junior at Notre Dame High School in Portsmouth, Ohio,  with my graduating year being 2020.  My current GPA is 4.0 and I am taking advanced classes to prepare me for college coursework. My goal is to continue to learn and develop skills on and off the court.  I play AAU ball and attend camps off season to improve my skills.  I work with a personal trainer in strength and conditioning at Shawnee State University. I also work with a training coach at Shawnee State University on fundamentals weekly. I play the 3,4, & 5 positions.  My AAU team is Kentucky Swish out of Ashland, Kentucky. I also play for the Ohio Valley Dragons team to play in exposure tournaments.  I am interested in studying Criminology to further my education after High School.  I am willing to do what it takes to play at the next level and reach my goal to continue my passion.

  • Lauren Campbell, of Portsmouth (OH) Portsmouth Clay HS, is a 5'9 140lb 2020 prospect from our Fall 2017 CHICAGO camp. College coaches on camp staff identified Lauren as having college potential. Lauren has a great wingspan that gives the player the potential to be a lock down defender and can be even more effective with active hands/feet. Addiitonally, the prospect appears to have solid size for position and should use their size to be a pest on defense. The talented passer, distributes the ball well always seeing the floor and anticipating where and when teammates will be open creating easy buckets. In terms of ball handling, the prospect showed a great handle and is on the way to being a primary ball handler. Basketball IQ was one of the player's greatest strengths routinely making theright play at the right time. There was a great emphasis on making the right play, which will be a big advantage in recruiting and separating from others. A big part of IQ is shot selection. Laurendoes a great job of understanding when there is enough time and space to shoot the ball and will continue to develop this knowledge by watching how this is done at various college levels. Making the extra pass and taking only open in-rhythm shots proved to be a reliable asset for the prospect. The prospect displayed sound shooting mechanics that will continue to develop with form shooting and made game speed repetitions We recommend making at least 750 game speed shots a day off the screen(curl/fades), off the bounce, spot shooting, etc. The talent was a capable finisher around the rim. With continued work finishing through traffic with either hand, through contact, and developing more finishing moves, the player will continue to be an improving threat around the basket. The talented player has good athletic ability for size and age. ScoutsFocus would like to see continued development in speed/agility and vertical development. Jump rope drills are great full body conditioning drillwe highly recommend if not ready for a rigorous weight-training program. The prospect is very strong for their age. The college game is an entirely different beast so continued strength development is crucial to prepare going against 23-24 year-olds. Combined with the player's solid frame that should to continue to build year around, the player will be physically ready to play at the next level. The talent showed a very good motor (highly coveted skill by college coaches) that remained mostly active on possessions and from what we saw, the player showed physical and mental toughness throughout camp. The player showed a great understanding and effort on the defensive side of the ball and should continue to focus on individual and team defensive concepts emphasized at camp. Lauren has college potential with continued hard work and development both in the classroom and on the hardwood. Can play the 4. AAU Team: Kentucky Swish
