Personal Statement
I am Jourdyn Friend, a senior at Meadowbrook High School. I have been on the Distinguished Honor Roll during my freshman, part of my sophomore, junior, and senior years. I am very involved in the community, mentoring a first grader at Hopkins Elementary School, and participating in a program with Delta Sigma Theta sorority where we feed the homeless and volunteer at retirement homes. I also sing in my church's youth choir and serve on the usher board.
The thing that separates me from other players is my work ethic, both on and off the court. In the beginning of my sophomore year, my grades slipped. I was determined to get my average back. With hard work and determination, I was back on the honor roll the end of my sophomore year. My grades continued improving into my junior year (receiving Distinguished Honors for both semesters). On the basketball court, I am known to out hustle any one on the court. My mentality in the game is not to be out worked and be a leader for the team. If I work hard and hustle every night then my team will follow suit.
