My invitation to the North/South Invitational held in Indiana in 2022 had the biggest impact on my growth in golf to date. Shooting 82, 85 on back to back days while battling a 105+ degree heat index and severe leg cramps on a course I had never played showed me how much I truly love the game of golf and how determined I am to play my best each and every round. In 2021 I played on our coed team before joining our first ever women’s team in the school’s history in 2022. Playing from the men’s tees gave me a great opportunity to challenge myself with longer shots into greens, using the driver more often from the tee box and measuring my game against players that have more power in their swing.
I was immediately thrown into a leadership role on our women’s golf team due to my experience. Our team and coach were extremely young in the game. It was a great opportunity learn leadership skills, patience and be a part of a successful team that shaved over 100 strokes from the first invitational of the year to the last. The season also helped me to realize that I ultimately want a career in golf as a coach or mentor of some type. I know that my unique personality, commitment to growth both personally and in the game of golf, as well as my determination to always be a great role model and leader for my team would allow me to have an immediate impact at any university.
