Hi, my name is Bridget Graybill, and I am a right defenseman. I have been playing travel hockey for the past ten years. When I initially started playing hockey, Arizona did not have a very strong girls' program. My initial eight and a half years were spent playing on co-ed teams with the Arizona Hockey Union Club (AHU). The teams primarily consisted of boys with very few girls (I was often the only one) and competing at the highest level possible with AHU (either elite youth hockey or Tier II). I loved the fast pace and physicality of the game, especially when checking became part of the play. I finally made the transition to girls' hockey mid-season of my second year of 14U hockey. I recognized at the beginning of the season the boys had become faster and more physical than I could keep up with. This impacted my team and ultimately my playing time.
I worked through this decision process with my current coach at the time, Coach Radke. He is a huge supporter of mine and helped me with making this transition easier. The change to the girl's team also created a need to change schools, as the additional amount of travel required was not conducive to the academic demands at Basis-Mesa. Since then, I have once again become more confident in myself and on the ice. As a player, I am a playmaker, competitive, confident, coachable, and always looking forward to improving. Most importantly I am a student-athlete.
Once I left Basis-Mesa, I took advantage of getting ahead at Arizona Preparatory Academy Online. In my freshman year, I completed 10 honors courses ending in all A's; World History B, Biology B, Chemistry A and B, Physics A and B, Pre-calculus A and B, English B, and US History A. Along with finishing my foreign language credits for high school (Spanish). For my upcoming sophomore year, I will be finishing up the last high school credits left, start taking college courses to get a head for college credits and complete my ACT before winter break. For my junior year (2024-2025) I will be taking all college courses to keep getting ahead for college credits and graduating early. (I am a late 07)
In the future, my goal is to continue to excel academically, play women’s NCAA D1 College Hockey, and earn a spot on Team USA.
