Personal Statement
My name is Victoria Scurto and I am a 16-year-old Ice Hockey player skating in all Forward positions. I am currently a 2002 birth year Junior at Archbishop Mitty High School graduating in 2020.
Since first lacing up the skates, stepping on the ice, and holding a stick at the age of 8, I knew I had a passion for everything that is hockey and being the best player I can be. This year was my fifth year as Jr. Shark and my third year playing at the AAA hockey level. Throughout my experience, I have cherished every moment including tournaments, games, and team events. I have many accomplishments I am proud of, including being chosen for the Western Conference Select Camp every year I have been eligible, earning the coach's "Joe Thornton" award for the best play-maker on the team two years running, and being nominated for the "Abby Leslie Memorial Award" for best team leadership and sportsmanship.
My personal goal in life is to play college hockey and leverage my high academic abilities to obtain a degree from a distinguished university. I wish to utilize my college hockey experience to help me further develop as a team player, leader, and solid competitor in my future career and life.
What sets me apart from others is my hockey sense, stick handling, and ability to make plays on the ice. I put my all into improving my game and becoming a better hockey and team player (coaches always tease me about how I'm always smiling). I train off-ice daily, attend many development camps, and have a personal coach to help improve my skating abilities. I love playing hockey as well as the hockey atmosphere so much that I want to continue to play for as long as I can skate.
